Videography - Outdoor

  • Little bit of everything

I did a few tests with the G9II and the Pana 100-400II and the autofocus / animal detection.
Unfortunately, it was still too dark at the beginning and at the end it was already clearly rainy and cloudy, so the ISO is clearly too high.
The focus detection with good contrast edges is good but not so great in difficult lighting conditions.
The automatic refocussing with CAF also works over longer distances with birds in flight.
However, I noticed a clear difference between the custom AF profiles.
In profile one it is significantly too slow, in profile 4 rather too fast.
    See the manual: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/dscoi/DC-G9M2/html/DC-G9M2_DVQP3010_eng/0040.html#00003 .
However, I clearly still lack experience here.
Unfortunately, the animals were also a bit far away for 400mm.
In contrast to the GH6, the dynamic range is excellent, not a single image had to be photographed with HDR.
Unfortunately, the G9II with 100-400 and activated stabilisers is also an absolute battery hog.
About one battery is consumed per hour, if the camera is moved around a lot it’s more like 30 minutes.

In addition, here are the out-of-cam timelapses of the sunrise with the GH6 and the OMDS 12-40 II f2.8.
